bandipur tiger reserve and national park stay

Bandipur Tiger Reserve And National Park

Bandipur National Park, an 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka is known for its small population of tigers. Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species. The 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple offers views from the park's highest peak.

its good to know and show our forests & flora &fauna of our state. a nice place to visit and learn more about the forests and animals. This forest is maintained the well and must-see place. Lake is also beautiful and full of water. Beautiful to see. It needs little more facilities like drinking water in the middle & a shelter somewhere.

Amazing place to get submerged in nature. I have been to Bandipur Tiger reserves 8-10 times and every time it’s a different experience... Once, I was lucky enough to spot a Python and other time could see only fresh pug marks - tiger just vanished into the thick forest and could feel the bushes movement. Forest Jeep Safari Drivers are very well trained, courteous and always curious to show best to the visitors. I never missed seeing elephants, deer’s, stags, eagles, peacocks, and bison deep inside the forest.

The ride through the road is wonderful ..  on both sides we can see a lot of greenery.. it gives a cool sensation..  mornings would be ideal for enjoying the beauty... We can also see a lot of animals like deer on the way...
There is a strict restriction that one shouldn't stop the vehicles and get down on these roads to avoid threats from the animals. I think they have high fines for this...

While driving through the park you would be able to enjoy nature. To make loud sounds inside the park is not allowed as the animals get disturbed so please take care of it and not throwing waste. You would be able to see the elephants, deer, monkeys and some other animals on the way. If your luck is good you may also be able to see the tiger. Overall nice place.

If you will compare Karnataka Jungles specially Bandipur and Kabini, they are costly compared to other tiger reserves. Guides and drivers communication skills also matter in safari, those are Missing here. The jungle is good, lots of species, mammals you will get but as I said for wildlife photography driver/guide is one of the important factors. So before going there make sure you will get the experienced one.

A long stretch of straight roads from Bangalore to Bandipur is a wonderful road trip. Just to be safe take a car as the roads are mostly filler by wild animals once you enter the forest area and monkeys are a nightmare. The car will keep you and your belongings safe. Park is very well maintained and very clean far, jungle lodges will provide you a good experience. If you reach any time over 1 pm then you have to wait for till3:30 for the next trip. Deers and elephants are common but if lucky a leopard. Maybe it's your lucky day then comes the Tiger. Safe trip guys.

Bandipur National Park is one of the magnificent places, being one of the first nine Tiger Reserves in the country is at the forefront of eco-tourism, and one of South India’s most famous Wildlife Sanctuary, also one of the oldest sanctuaries in India. It was built by the Mysore ruler in 1931, which served as a hunting ground for the Mysore Royal families. The park provides a protected zone for many species of mammals and birds. It is an ideal place to visit because of the inviting atmosphere of the forest reserve which has pleasant scenery to offer. The whole area is gifted with a wide range of open grassy to evergreen forests. One may find it as the best place especially for people who love nature, photography, and adventure, the lush green Bandipur forests with hills and winding roads and varieties of wild animals is a bliss to the wildlife lovers.
Many adventure activities are available within the park. The major attraction is jungle safari where you can spot spotted deer, elephants, peacocks, bison, wild boar and more. You can experience a wonderful jungle ride. The government provides comfortable accommodation at Bandipur National Park. Hotels, resorts, guest houses are also available near the park. The park is open throughout the year, but the best time of the year to visit the Bandipur National Park is between March to October. Tourists can experience an excellent opportunity of viewing diverse wildlife and flora.

A splendid reserve forest alive with many varieties of animals, birds, and reptiles. This reserve forest specially allotted for the Tigers and as they are very reserved to see them in the open space is very rare. However, you would be able to see plenty of spotted deer, many elephants, peacock, wild boars, etc. Bison gracing along with the herd is another beautiful experience. Varieties of trees, bush and plants with many types of bamboo too is a wonderful experience. However, it is reported that in the summer a wildfire that raged killed many animals and birds. An enchanting experience if you are traveling to Kerala through Bandipur Reserve Forest.

I had a great time at the reserve along with 29 others. We stayed at the dormitories and it was good. They have been refurbished and are relatively clean for a government-run place. Food is edible and you should not ask for more. The staff is looking for what they can get out of you which is sad. I am sure they are well paid but the ingrained culture is such that they expect you to tip them constantly. The safari is for about an hour with no Tiger insight. The rest is just the fun of being together for a ride in the forest.

Perfect weekend getaway from Bangalore with a mix of cheap and expensive stays. There is a bus as well as a Jeep safari. Note that the Gates to the reserve shut down at 8 pm every day with no vehicular movement allowed. Make sure you have planned your trip accordingly.
We stayed at a government hostel cum Lodge and it was blissful. We brought fresh chicken from the nearby town and it was cooked to our liking. We even had a bonfire where we could enjoy a few drinks. This is a must-visit place for a night or two. Do give it a try!

Great place for nature lovers. You will enjoy a lot you'll spot many animals like deers, elephants(rarely), monkeys, bosons.,wild buffaloes, wild pigs, tigers, and other big cats if you are lucky enough beautiful place with a lot to find greenery I have visited it 6-10 times and have spotted a tiger only once, overall very good place.
