Gir Forest National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat, western India. It was established to protect Asiatic lions, who frequent the fenced-off Devalia Safari Park, along with leopards and antelopes. Gir Jungle Trail, outside the fenced area, traverses the deciduous forest and is home to wildlife including vultures and pythons. The Kamleshwar Dam has marsh crocodiles and birds, such as Indian skimmers and pelicans.

I got lucky! and saw a family of lions and many other animals! 
Worth the money!


the only home to the Asiatic Lion!  I visited Gir for a photography trip during my photography course with Institute for Photography Excellence IPE India. We could spot the lion on our very first day. But along with the lion, there are several other birds and animals. Must visit for any photographer, or wildlife lover.

It’s a very huge national park. you can see lots of deer while traveling. Some people say they have seen the lion   in this place but we didn’t see during our journey 

It’s very good for children to visit but the road in this national park is very poor to drive a car. 

There is no fuel ?? point in the range of about 30km. So make sure you have enough fuel in your car before visit this place.


One & only National Park in India for Asiatic Lions. It is a Dry & Greet type forest. The half-season will be Green due to rain & half-season will be dry. The main problem is Water in Summer for each & every animal. It is in approx 459sq km & 100sq km is Fully restricted. not for a safari or not for anyone. if you are lucky then you will see the Lion g Leopard. Deer is normal in this jungle. Permission officer allowed Route of Safari as route no 5/6/11/10/7/8.. etc.
Following are some tips

- Must take morning safari for the high probability of lion seen
- Must wear face MASK for avoiding Dust due to the previous jeep
- At mornings safari must wear a sweater or warm wear
- Don't make noise otherwise the animal will be distributed
- Really for any time or anything in this safari
- Make sure to take a water bottle to hydrate yourself
- Don't feed the animals
- Don't spoil the forest or don't throw rubbish
- Just go 3/4 time at safari so probably will be the height for Lion seen
- Respect locals
- Keep searching always. definitely, you find something that you never expected or experience
- Keep silence 
- Must stand up at jeep so you can find better
- Keep HOPE ALIVE till the end 
- Should give tip to Driver & Guide to express the gratitude towards them, because they also want about you can see the Lion on this trip.
- Make sure to be a Human in Jungle & be a Civilized person.


One should visit the sanctuary at least once. Really it's such a wonderful experience for every nature lover. It's a fact that Asiatic lions are the ace attraction but there are so many other things also which should not be ignored like the Gir sanctuary and national Park is also the treasure of flora and fauna. There are so many species of mammals other than lions like leopards, Spotted deers, blue bull, hyena, fox and so many as well as reptiles like crocodiles, snakes and even trees also.


The Gir National Park is famous for its thriving population of the Asiatic Lions and is a major protected wildlife reserve in the State of Gujarat. The forests were once the hunting reserves of the royal family of Junagarh who later played a pivotal role in the conservation of lions in the region. Apart from the Lions, the forests of Gir are also home to a varied species of animals, birds, and reptiles.


It is a good place but is not my expectations, It will be great if you visit any zoo where you can see maximum animals, here you need to depend upon you luck to see lion( I am one of them), I was expecting it will be open sanctuary but it is not it man-made, Zoo type  but it does not have any country except outer of Gir, May you have lots of expectations but you found nothing and you feel it is wastage of 1000-1500 Rs, would suggest need to book safari, you go to Gir place by local auto booking charges are  300rs( travel up to 5 people), and book group tour bus inside Gir, that will be good idea
